This morning in church, we were worshipping our King with this song that declares:
He gave, Redeemer!”
This song hits me because I just cannot believe how my God, my Savior, my King would look at me in all of my sin, mess, insecurity, pride, deceit, and failure and call me, pursue me, redeem me.
Then, I thought, “no guilt“…I was reminded that guilt is NOT of Jesus. He does not want that for us. Even to the extent of food…He doesn’t want us to feel guilt at all–not for our sins, for our failures, or for our food! For our sins, He desires our hearts to be convicted and we would feel remorse for our sin and would ask for forgiveness as we repent and turn away from our sins. But, guilt is not from Him. It’s from the enemy.
I stood there and realized that the guilt I sometimes feel from food is completely and most definitely something the Lord does not want for me. There were (and sometimes still) times when I felt my morality or my Christianity was stronger if I ate a certain way. But no. My Jesus says that He loves my soul, He pursues my soul, He kicks down every wall, sin, barrier, and fear to pursue me time and time again despite my going back to the destruction that seeks to kill me. Despite my distrust in Him. Despite the times that I’m afraid to say His Name in boldness. I couldn’t ever earn that or deserve that love.
Oh His overwhelming love.
Oh His overwhelming pursuit of you and me.
Oh His overwhelming desire for us to be FREE from all guilt, from all chains, and from all lies.
So, today, I encourage you and implore you of that. That you would choose TODAY to believe that your sin, guilt, and failures and fears have already been laid on Jesus Christ. That your guilt that you feel from past sins, actions, or even times when the enemy tries to create guilt in you based on a food choice. I pray that you would fully believe in your heart and know that Jesus Christ died for that freedom He wants you to take. Freely.
When I eat something and then feel guilt…I can say, “Wait! That is not of the Lord. He wants me to be free from that. NO guilt in Jesus Christ!”.Food choices are not a determination of our morality. Food is food and ALL food is meant to be enjoyed. Mark 7:18-23 declares this! “Nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him ‘unclean’. For it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach and out of his body. What comes out of a man is what makes him unclean…slander, arrogance etc…”
Happy Sunday, darling! 🙂
